Forging Ahead! Wenling Enterprises Enter the Humanoid Robot Field
2025-03-29

Do you remember the robots performing the Yangge dance on the Spring Festival Gala stage this year? Wearing Northeastern cotton-padded jackets, they flawlessly executed handkerchief-twirling moves, showcasing flexibility and precision in performing difficult "twisting, swaying, and kicking" actions that are hard for ordinary people to coordinate, sparking widespread online discussion. At this year's National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, "humanoid robots" became a hot topic among delegates and committee members, and "embodied intelligence" was included in the government work report.
This is a blue ocean!
As humanoid robots become a direction for various places to seize development opportunities in future industries, companies in Wenling are rushing into this "new blue ocean." Recently, at the 7th High-Precision Gear Manufacturing Technology Seminar in 2025, themed "Foundation Empowerment, Supply Chain Strengthening," Zhejiang Juyue Gear Co., Ltd., as one of the co-organizers, announced its intention to enter the humanoid robot field, collaborating with the National Laboratory of Equipment Mechanical Transmission at Chongqing University to develop harmonic reducers for humanoid robots.
What did hundreds of companies discuss at the national seminar?
"Reducers and planetary roller screws are core components of humanoid robots." Juyue Gear General Manager Wu Duobing said that at the end of last year, Juyue Gear began preparations for the research and development of harmonic reducers and planetary roller screw reducers for humanoid robots. "Although we have a technological foundation, it is not enough for our products to be directly applied to humanoid robots in a mature way."
Under these circumstances, Juyue Gear sought cooperation with Chongqing University, which has strong technological reserves. "They have the technology, and we have the production capacity, allowing us to jointly promote the industrialization of related products." said Wu Duobing.
In his view, as one of the representatives of future industries, humanoid robots have shown enormous application potential in various industries and scenarios, representing a new development opportunity for upstream and downstream companies in the industry chain.
This was confirmed at the High-Precision Gear Manufacturing Technology Seminar.
As a national industry seminar, the High-Precision Gear Manufacturing Technology Seminar attracted more than 650 people from hundreds of well-known companies in the upstream and downstream of China's gear industry chain and supply chain. One of the topics discussed by many industry experts and entrepreneurs on-site was the breakthrough in humanoid robot-related technologies.
In addition to the exchange and discussion of new energy vehicle gear manufacturing technology, gear quality control and heat treatment processes, and gear grinding technology, the conference also specifically set up a "Robot Key Technology and Component Development Forum" to provide participants with a platform for intellectual exchange and the pursuit of new opportunities.
"Taizhou started by making motorcycle gears, then car gears, and then new energy vehicle gears. Next, we estimate it will be humanoid robot gears." Shi Zhaoyao, a professor at Beijing University of Technology and a member of the National Industrial Base Expert Committee, who attended the seminar that day, said. On-site, he analyzed the profound impact of robot technology on the gear industry with a presentation titled "Robot Revolution: Breakthrough and Rebirth of the Gear Industry."
How are Wenling companies deploying in the new humanoid robot track?
It's not just the gear industry; more and more companies in Wenling are now beginning to deploy in the humanoid robot track, seizing the "new blue ocean."
Beiping Machine Tool (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. is a "single champion" in the field of five-axis CNC tool grinders. In addition to the research and production of machine tool equipment used in the processing of core components for humanoid robots, this year, the company has also increased its investment in the research and development and production of robotic dogs and humanoid robots and their important components, and the production line is currently under accelerated construction.
"The new round of development of humanoid robots plays a crucial role in the development of manufacturing and new productive forces, and we must seize this opportunity." said Yu Ronghua, chairman of Beiping Machine Tool.
It is worth mentioning that last year, Beiping Machine Tool established a dedicated software R&D team in Tianjin. "On the one hand, it is to meet the development needs of grinding process software, and on the other hand, it is to develop intelligent control software in the field of humanoid robots and robotic dogs."
In addition to Beiping Machine Tool, last year, Aishida also took its first steps in the field of humanoid robots. At the first China Humanoid Robot Ecology Conference, the company announced the establishment of the Aishida Humanoid Robot Application Innovation Research Institute.
Chen Helin, chairman of Aishida Co., Ltd., said in an interview that humanoid robots will be able to work in kitchens and factories in the future. "Aishida's subsidiary, Qianjiang Robot, is a well-known industrial robot body enterprise in Zhejiang, with talent advantages and technological foundation in robot bodies and controller systems." He said, "Humanoid robots are a new track for future industries, and we have been thinking about how to leverage our advantages to explore and promote the development of this industry."
